June 28 update for the second session: check out the general rules for the August exam — concerning the certifications: students who have succeeded a certification can keep their marks for that part of the exam or even improve them by taking another additional certificate that will replace their weakest marks for the certificates; students who have only taken one certificate (instead of two) or who have not taken any, can take respectively one or two certificates under the rules stated below. To benefit from this, you must let me know by mail before July 31, and communicate the result(s) with the appropriate proof before August 16.

Update March 29 — check out your results here, where I collect them as they are communicated to me:

LIVErtising is marketing communication based on engagement. In this course I’ll try to base my approach on the same foundation: interaction and amplification/advocacy. This is why I invite you all to have a look around this Medium newsletter and discover the many things it has to offer for your own personal development. In this post I’ll introduce the possibility to get your an official certification.

Here I am suggesting you grab an opportunity to build knowledge actively by attending online courses and getting certified for that while getting a bonus, which may prove to be decisive in your success for the course. There are three possibilities open to you: the Google Digital Garage, the Hubspot Academy or Google Skillshop. All courses and certifications are free of charge, but these certification have a formal and official character. This opportunity is optional but I warmly recommend it.

In short, The task is to attend the chosen course, take the final test… and succeed it. The bonus is the opportunity to find an internship and job more easily with an official certificate displayed in your CV. Additionally, this certification will secure safe marks for a specified percentage of the LIVErtising course marks. Here are your options:

Google Digital Garage — Fundamentals of digital marketing

This course is introductory in contents and difficulty level, a good starting point if you want to gather the necessary concepts for digital marketing, while practising loads of listening with the course videos and upgrading your understanding of the whole field of digital transformation and communication. A real plus if you feel the LIVErtising course is a tad too difficult.

You can register here, taking care to switch choose the settings as below, which is required to take the course and test in English (obviously) and to register using a google address displaying your correct forename and surname, e.g. john.doe@gmail.com, not sunflower@gmail.com!

Duration: 20+ hours
Beginner level
Choice: 1 course + certificate — “Fundamentals of digital marketing”
Bonus: the score on this certificate weighs for 20% of course marks
Deadline: April 30 at midnight — see deadlines for the August exam above

Hubspot Academy certification

Among the different courses and certifications offered there, six will enable you to earn the bonus for the LIVErtising course exam (excluding all the others). The courses in questions are referenced in the following visual:

Google Skillshop

  • Google Ads Display Certification:
  1. Google Ads Display Certification + Google Ads Apps Certification (= 2 certificates)
  2. Google Ads Search Certification
  3. Google Ads — Measurement Certification
  4. Google Ads Video Certification
  5. Shopping ads Certification
  • Google analytics academy
  1. Google Analytics Individual Qualification
  • Youtube
  1. YouTube Music Certification
  2. YouTube Music Rights Management Certification
  3. YouTube Asset Monetization
  4. YouTube Content Ownership
  • Google ad manager
  1. Drive Advertising Revenue with Google Ad Manager

Beginner to advanced level

Deadline: April 2 at midnight — the possible second certificate on April 30 at midnight — see deadlines for the August exam above

In all scenarios, make sure your respect these rules:

  1. Take the certification tests in English only and in time to respect the deadlines as indicated for each choice above, but any time you want before that date;
  2. Send me a first mail to inform me of the course you intend to take, if so (remember this is optional) and a second mail forwarding me details and proof of your results, immediately when you get them — they must be in English and show they have been awarded before the deadlines. The absolute limit is April 30.
  3. Keep a copy or screenshot of the feedback you get from the Google/Hubspot (mails, certificate, marks, …)
  4. The bonus: you import the given score into the course marks, weighing for the stated percentage. An example? You choose two Hubspot certificates and get 80% for “Inbound Marketing” and “90% for “Social Media”. That means an average of 85% for your Hubspot certifications. Next to that, your result on the LIVErtising exam is 60%. In this situation your total mark will be 67.5% — i.e. 25.5/30 (Hubspot) + 42/70 (exam) = 67.5/100 (course total marks). With the same choice on the Hubspot Academy, if you only get 24.5/70 for the exam, you’ll secure 50/100 for the course total marks, phew!

Make sure you bookmark this page for later, and give it a wave if you like the idea — that’s on the left hand margin!

I really look forward to getting news about your involvement in this soon.
